San Felipe is on the Sea of Cortes coast, in Baja California, Mexico.

San Felipe Facts
Due to its proximity to the USA-Mexico border -120 miles south- and to its warm, dry, winter climate, and its hot, humid summer, it is becoming as a hot spot for students and families and a hot real estate haven.

It is targeted to become a major tourist destination within the near future.

Many developments are in different stages of construction.

And with fine restaurants, luxury condos, first class sport fishing charters the place is turning into a sophisticated travel destination.

Tourists and retirees from Canada and US come to enjoy the warm and dry winters and the hot, humid summers.

The vacation home market is booming. Among the new developments already built, there are really beautiful communities.

Some of them offer golf course, spa, hotel resort, riding stables, pool, restaurant by the sea and tennis court.

  • ATV's.
    The dessert area surrounding the town is ideal for buggies and ATV's.
  • Beaches.
    There are miles and miles, south and north, of extensive shoreline.
  • Boat tours.

  • Camping
    In this seaside town there are dozens of places to camp. Our favorite are Nuevo Mazatlán and Percebú.
  • Fishing.
    The local waters offer excellent sport fishing during January, February and March, and seasonal fish during the rest of the year. Get your fishing license at the local Marina for US $5.70 per day.
  • Off-Road Tours
    Access the surrounding areas on comfortable quads. We recommend you book early because they fill up fast.

  • Scuba Diving.
    San felipe has no good locations for this sport. Go further south to Puertecitos.
  • The shrimp fishing fleet graveyard.
    Bring you camera to shot old boats laying on the beach, on the north side of the harbor.
  • Valley of the Giants.
    Get a close encounter with Cardon Cactuses several hundred years old.


    Getting to San Felipe by Air

    The International Airport has an excellent airstrip and an appropriate tie-down area for parking your craft. Air Taxi Flights from San Diego.

    Getting to San Felipe by Car

    From Mexicali, drive south on Highway 5 (120 miles).

    From Tijuana, drive south on Highway 1 to Ensenada (68 miles).

    Then drive east to Ojos Negros (24 miles).

    Continue until you reach Highway 5 (95 miles).

    Turn right to drive 31 more miles south to the town.
