This off road race, which takes place every November, is a point-to-point race that officially starts in Ensenada downtown, specifically in front of the renowned Riviera del Pacífico Cultural Center.
The finish point is Cabo San Lucas, 1295 miles away, in the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula.
At 6:30 am vehicles will leave in 30-second intervals.
The official time limit to finish the race is 53 hours.
Tecate Score Baja 500
The second version, Baja 500, is a loop race covering approximately 440 miles.
Time Limit: 20 hours. It starts and finishes in Ensenada, in front of the Riviera del Pacifico museum, with the Todos Santos bay as background.
This race features over 250 starters competing in 27 Pro and 6 Sportsman classes -ATVs, motorcycles, cars and trucks.
Competitors from Mexico, USA, Canada, France, Germany, Israel and other countries are expected every year.
This event, held every June, is not quite a thousand miles long but it is also so exciting since it is easier to watch both its start and its finish.
Vehicle Types
Whichever version of the race you enjoy, you will see a number of different types of vehicles...
Both race competitions have classes for trucks, production vehicles, custom fabricated race cars, stock VW's, dune buggies and motorcycles.
This variety makes the event almost like watching several different races in one.
Drivers
Around 450 entries are usually expected from different countries such as México, Canada, France, Austria, Italy, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Israel, South Africa and USA.
Among the drivers that took part in the 2007 edition were famous people like actors Jesse James and Patrick Dempsey.
