Air Travel to Ensenada

Good News. Air travel to Ensenada will be possible very soon. Construction of the Ensenada International Airport is scheduled to begin in the last months of 2008.

Located on the Mesa del Tigre at km 80 of the free Tijuana-Ensenada Highway, it will be at 370 meters above sea level.

With a runway of 4000 meters long and 60 meters wide, airplanes with capacities of up to 850 passengers, such as the Boeing 747 and the Airbus 380, will be able to land.

Along with the control tower, service hangers and ambulances, there will also be a heliport, air taxi and an aviation academy.

There is a commercial complex in the planning and a four-lane highway which will mean Ensenada downtown will be but a twenty-minute drive away from the airport.

Passengers with long layovers will be able to enjoy some of what Ensenada has to offerwhile they await their flights.

Planned international flights out of Ensenada Airport include routes to Hong Kong, Shangai, Singapore and Tokyo.

A polar route to Europe is also being planned. Of course, flights to cities in Central and South America are on the list of planned flights.
